Art therapy is a gentle and non-invasive therapeutic approach that values your personal experience, your unique way of expressing yourself, and your innate ability to heal. Art therapy is for everyone - no art experience is necessary.

Art therapy allows adults, youth and children the experience of being grounding, having choice and control, which is what is needed most when we experience stress, change, or uncomfortable emotions. While making art, our nervous system has a chance to regulate, and allows us to enter a state of creation. This enhances coping and helps us to find creative solutions to our problems.
I work with children (6 years and older), preteens, teens, and adults with a variety of presenting concerns including anxiety, depression, low motivation, and low self-esteem. Clients also seek out art therapy for support during major life transitions (career loss or change, parenthood, empty nest and retirement), experiences of grief and/or loss, when feeling "stuck", and for support coping with change. As a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS), I also have specific knowledge and experience with individuals who have experienced medical trauma, who have chronic or long-term medical needs, and with siblings of children with medical needs.
Sessions are typically 60 minutes long, and involve as much verbal processing as you need. I will always encourage some art making, and the session will conclude with reflection on the art created.
I offer introductory mini-sessions for those who are curious about art therapy and want a "meet and greet", before committing to a therapy session, individual sessions, sessions for a parent and child dyad or sibling pair, and workshops for self-care.
